Patch 3.1: Major glyphs used for the Destruction Warlock build, 0/13/58

There are many things I enjoy doing within WOW and one of those aspects is testing out various rotations. I also enjoy swapping glyphs to see which has the most impact.

Patch 3.1 brought in a whole slew of tasty glyphs, and one of the first I snagged for my Afflction Warlock was the Glyph of Lifetap. Checking out the tooltip you see that when used you gain 20% of your spirit as spellpower for 20 seconds.

Deimonia made another change to her Destruction build so she’s now 0/13/58, similar to my prior spec but I made a moved a few points around. The build has great burst damage, and I bring extra utility. Deimonia now brings replenishment to her group/raid and restores her mana at the same time. What that means is she Lifetaps less and can pew pew more. Since Deimonia doesn’t need to Lifetap as much I decided to see whether I could swap the glyph of Lifetap for something else…

Checking out the official WOW Forums I came upon a stickied post written by Fallenman titled Fallenman’s 3.1.2 Quick Raiding Spec Guide. Aha, just what the Warlock ordered! According to Fallenman, the only Warlocks that shouldn’t be using Lifetap are those who have specced for Improved Soul Leech. I dropped the Glyph of Lifetap and picked up the Glyph of Incinerate.

I haven’t had a chance to test it out as much as I would like but I did notice a slight increase in my DPS while questing. I also noticed an increase while running Heroic, The Culling of Stratholme. It was the timed run. The drake dropped, nope I didn’t win the roll.

Major Glyphs for Destruction Warlock build, 0/13/58

Glyphs

  • Glyph of Incinerate
  • The glyph of Incinerate increases the damage I do with this spell by 5%.

  • Glyph of Immolate
  • Increases the perodic damge by 10%

  • Conflagrate
  • Your Conflagrate spell no longer consumes your Immolate or Shadowflame spell from the target.

*Update
I originally created this post about four days ago. It’s been in draft mode until today. Anway, since that time I’ve run several Heroics with the new glyph. The results have been interesting, noticing an increase with my DPS. My DPS is around 2200 on many encounters, However, the fights that require a lot of movement will decrease my DPS. I imagine my DPS will increase as I improve my gear.

Destruction Warlock: What I’m noticing
Destruction spell damage scales very well with certain buffs. I’ve gone as high as 2800 DPS on certain fights. I use DPS meters for myself. It gives me a chance to see what rotations, depending on the encounter, does the most damage. I don’t share DPS meters in groups. It’s more than rocking the charts DPS wise, playing as a group, being situationally aware is important too.
