Leveling as Protection; Killing multiple mobs
The past few days I’ve had a chance to play around with Aiyanna, my level 14 Protection Warrior. I quickly noticed that fighting one mob did not generate Rage at a fast rate, however fighting multiple mobs filled my rage bar nicely. That being said, Aiyanna rounds up her targets in 3-5 at time. She survives, still has at least half her health, and hasn’t died once doing this. She likes bashing heads so much she does this a lot.
Speaking of pixel deaths, My Protection Warrior did die the past Tuesday but chalk that up to my Internet server provider. It kept losing connection, and naturally my connection would drop at the wrong time.. you know when I was engaging a mob. /facepalm Besides that annoying issue Aiyanna hasn’t come close to dying.
I usually play Aiyanna in the evenings teaming up with Zejus’ Elemental Shaman; however, I’ve had plenty of chances to solo with my protection Warrior. Thus far the most mobs I’ve soloed has been five. That’s not bad at all. With Zejus it’s been more, although I’m not sure of the exact number for that.
Lowbie Protection Warrior Gear: Stacking Strength and Stamina
My bank toons scurried to the Auction House and started looking for ‘Of the Bear’ gear for Aiyanna since it has the +strength and +stamina that Protection Warriors crave at this level. Additionally I had Divina, my lowbie enchanter, send Aiyanna some lowbie enchants;
Chest Enchant +25 health
Wrist Enchant +3 Stamina
Boots Enchant +1 Stamina
Aiyanna is currently level 14 and should be tanking her first instance very soon. I’ll definitely be posting about that experience. I’m really looking forward to the opportunity to tank with my Protection Warrior.
People have always told me to never level a warrior as protection. the same as you should never level a priest as holy.
I have to disagree with those kind of statements. especially for the warrior. being able to charge into 5 or 6 mobs and know that your going to survive, that this is the only way you’ll get a decent amount of rage is a great thrill.
keep up the charging
I tend to tune ‘those people’ out, because well I strongly feel that If I want to play a certain spec at end game I should level the entire way, or most of the way, with that spec. I don’t have to sit back and learn the spec at end-game since it’s something I’ve played while I leveled.
I agree, it’s a great thrill being able to wipe out a large amount of mobs at a time. This past weekend I knocked out two levels in an hour just using that technique. Killing the mobs in such high numbers gave me an amazing amount of experience points along with handing in the quests.
